Abstract
"The purpose of this paper is to develop computerized estimation system of a welding material quantity for the ship structure fabrication, which is aid to select design of welded joint detail and to calculate or sum the amount of welding material more accurately. For this purpose, welding standards in shipyard and the parameters related to the welding material quantity are reviewed. The estimation sequence of welding material quantity for the ship structure is summarized systematically in the way of welding engineer would expect to work. Finally, a computer software to perform this task is developed through the use of the integrated system which use the object-oriented paradigm to represent the user-thinking more closely and database system to store practical parameters for ship structural details."
